CIRAS Airsoft Vest: Adjustment, MOLLE Pouches and Mistakes to Avoid

Gilet CIRAS tactique airsoft en Multicam

A CIRAS airsoft vest is a wrap-around plate carrier covered in MOLLE, made to carry a lot of equipment over a long game. Ours is made of 600D Oxford, weighs a stated 1.6 kg and costs €52.99 to €55.99 depending on the colour, with removable plate sleeves and detachable triple magazine pouches. Properly adjusted, it holds without restricting breathing or shouldering; badly adjusted, it rides up, flops about and tires the shoulders.

What Is a CIRAS Vest?

CIRAS stands for Combat Integrated Releasable Armor System. The original military model is a plate carrier designed to be removed in one movement in an emergency. It is recognisable by its wide panels that wrap around the torso and its continuous MOLLE surface. In airsoft, its shape and carrying capacity are reproduced; the ballistic protection is not.

Adjusting a CIRAS Vest in 5 Steps

  1. Put it on over your playing outfit: jacket or softshell, not a T-shirt.
  2. Set the height with the straps: the top of the front panel sits at the top of the breastbone.
  3. Tighten the sides until the vest no longer twists when you turn, while breathing deeply.
  4. Fit the pouches (see below), then rebalance the straps if the vest leans forward.
  5. Test it on the move: run, kneel, lie down and shoulder your replica.

Organising MOLLE Pouches

  • Front: rifle magazines, within reach of your support hand.
  • Top of the front panel: a flat admin pouch for map and armband.
  • Strong side: pistol magazines or radio, without spilling under the shooting arm.
  • Back: water and kit you don't need while running.

Mistakes to Avoid With a CIRAS

Wearing It Too Low

A vest that sits on the belly gets in the way as soon as you bend or sit, and the magazines bang against your thighs. Raise it with the straps.

Leaving It Too Loose

A loose CIRAS moves with every step and rubs the shoulders. Tighten the sides until it follows your torso.

Filling Every MOLLE Row

The large MOLLE surface tempts you to fill it all. Every pouch adds weight and width: keep only what you actually use during a game.

Putting a Pouch Where the Stock Goes

A thick pouch on the upper chest, strong side, stops you shouldering properly. Keep that area clear.

Thinking "Bulletproof" Means Protected

Replicas are inspired by military vests, but airsoft plates are foam or plastic. The vest softens BB hits on the torso; eye protection remains mandatory. See airsoft bulletproof vest.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you adjust a CIRAS airsoft vest?

First set the height with the straps, top of the front panel at the top of the breastbone, then tighten the sides until the vest no longer twists, while still breathing freely.

Does a CIRAS vest get in the way in CQB?

It is wider and heavier than a JPC. In CQB or speedsoft, a JPC or chest rig is easier to handle; the CIRAS is made for carrying a lot over a long game.

Can you put plates in a CIRAS airsoft vest?

Yes, in the front and back plate sleeves. Use foam or light plastic plates: they give the vest its shape without weighing it down.

Is a CIRAS airsoft vest bulletproof?

No. It is an airsoft replica: it softens BB hits on the torso and carries your equipment, but does not protect against firearms.

Do standard MOLLE pouches fit the CIRAS?

Yes, standard MOLLE pouches attach anywhere on the vest.
