Setting Up a Speedsoft Build
1. Internals: Reliable Before Fast
- Rubber and inner barrel tuned for your BBs: a fast shot that misses is useless. See Hi-Capa hop-up.
- Short stroke kit and matching recoil spring: the cycle gets shorter and uses less gas.
- Steel hammer and sear: speedsoft means firing a lot, and this is the group that wears most. See steel hammer and sear kit.
2. Handling: Shoot and Reload Fast
- Adjustable trigger: short travel, clean break, fast reset.
- Textured grip: your hand doesn't slip when it sweats.
- Flared magwell: the magazine finds its place even during a fast reload.
- Extended slide stop and magazine release: manipulations without changing your grip.
3. Sighting

4. Magazines and Gas
Carry several well-maintained magazines: a leaking seal or valve ruins a game. In cool weather gas pressure drops; keep magazines warm between rounds.

- Over-lightening: a very light slide with a spring that is too soft cycles badly and wears parts.
- Stacking external parts before the internals are reliable.
