Customising Your AAP-01: Fit It Yourself or Have It Workshop-Prepared
You can absolutely upgrade your AAP-01 yourself, as long as you follow a logical order and accept a bit of tuning. A workshop-prepared build skips the trial and error and arrives tuned. This guide gives the upgrade order, the kit you need to fit parts, what a workshop brings and how to choose between the two.
⚠️ The common myth:
"More parts and stiffer springs make a better replica." Wrong. Parts fitted in the wrong order, or over-tensioned springs on a stock bolt, unbalance the cycle. Order and consistency matter more than quantity.
Where to Start: the Upgrade Order

The first two make the replica reliable; the others make it more accurate or more pleasant. There is no point investing in a precision barrel on a replica whose hammer is about to break.
Fitting Parts Yourself: Kit and Pitfalls
- Tools: pin punches, keys that fit the screws, silicone oil, grease for the trigger group, a tray for small parts. The stock screws wear quickly with repeated disassembly: our AAP-01 Torx screw set replaces them.
- Small springs in the bolt unit and trigger group fly out during disassembly: work over a tray.

- Testing: after each job, test without gas, then on gas with a full magazine, before moving to the next part.

Which upgrade should I start with on an AAP-01?
The steel hammer and sear: the stock zamak hammer is the first part to fail when you play regularly.
Should I fit stiffer springs?
Not on a stock bolt: fit 100% reinforced springs there, with no tension gain. The 200% nozzle and 160% recoil pair is for lightweight bolts.
Can I fit upgrades myself?
Yes. Hop-up bucking, barrel and springs are manageable with some method. The hammer and sear need more care, because the trigger group contains very small springs.
